Spring/Summer 2010 Trends and Must Haves

The chill is getting sub-dued. And the warmer and fun season would start. The Spring/Summer Collection is hitting the stores now, so before you head for shopping, just check the Spring/Summer 2010 trends.

The strong woman is swept aside and a more feminine, flirty and fun is in. Tulle, ruffles, ribbons, florals, pastels, patterned skirts, delicate fabrics and bows dominated Spring 2010 runways.

Simple and clear cut shapes, elegance, fresh pastel colours, flirty dresses, clean white silhouettes, electric blue, supercool sneakers, ultra short (dresses, skirts and pants) are the key trends of this Spring/Summer.

Patterns and Prints

This spring/summer is rich in prints, especially patterened skirts. The big fashion houses that displayed this tend in their shows include Annua Sui, Etro, Balenciaga, Luella and Betsey Johnson.

Floral is huge, but there are many other varieties in patterns to choose from including graphic prints, abstract shapes, tribal-infused patterns, polka dots, plaids and stripes. Floral pantsuits were also quie popular with the designers.
.

.

Pick a smart short and sleeveless dresses in closely gathered prints, you can easily wear them from a morning at the farmer's market to an evening out with friends. Prints and patterns also present a perfect opportunity to showcase color. Go natural with a fresh citrus scheme or think pretty with pinks and pastels. A more fun and feminine look would be wearing a floral dress with lace tights.

Like a patterened skirt? Wear a flowy, solid-colored top to go with patterned pencil skirts and a tailored, feminine blouse for fuller styles. Nice platform pumps would be perfect to complete the look.

You can always temper with a black belt and a black jacket. The possibilities are endless!

.
Sneakers

Supercool sneakers are in this spring/summer. Wear these gorgeous pairs with boyfriend jeans and a fine-knit sweater to lend your daywear sparkle. Or pair them with leggings and a blazer to work urban cool with a feminine edge.

To add a more feminine touh to the look, wear a lacey camisole with slim trousers and a nice girly sneakers. They're fun.

Lanvin floral Sneakers for $620, DKNY Moore Sequined Sneakers for $98 (top right), River Island pink sneakers for 13 and Pink Studded Sneakers for 25.

.
Electric Blue

.
Electric blue hue is hot this season. The colour looks fresh and suits every skin tone. In fact, this colour has ben showcased in even the Fall/Winter 2010-2011 lines. So girls on budget can add this colour in the wardrobe to be sure it takes you through the Winter, and to make a statement.
You can wear the colour with whites, blacks. If a dress or a top would be bit much, then just add a pop of colour with nice pair of blue shoes or a stylish blue bag or a scarf. Love the Ossie Clark blue scarf (below). Its stylish and smart, and the pop of blue looks perfect.

Spring Summer 2010 Beauty Trends

Natural an playful is the trend this spring summer. Neon brights fade away this summer while pastels are injected with just enough pigment for the drama. Complexions are fresh with a flawless finish; whatever foundation you wear make sure it's light and natural this season. Lips are in a word, pink.

Go nude, nude tones created an effortless on-the-go look, with flawless skin being the focus. Barely there makeup was ubiquitous on the runways of Gucci, Chloe, Balmain and Burberry.

Nudes and pinks to rein the lips this summer. Models at Stella McCartney, Gucci, and Burberry wore nudes and sheer pinks on the lips, keeping warm weather beauty simple and chic. Slick on a pale pink gloss or dot a beige lipstick on your pout for the hottest beauty trend this season. The closer your lipstick colour is to your natural lip colour, the trendier it is.

Purple your eyes this spring/summer, it's Hot and really makes the eye pop. From soft lilac to stronger blocked purples, whatever suits your skin tone best. From runways to celebs, everyone is loving this season's purple eye trend. It goes great with the nude faces.

.

.

Spring Bling, crystals, gold and glitters are high in this season's party trend, but in soft hues. Chic but not loud, these party pieces have an elegance and glamour that offsets the glitz.

Remember the rule when you wear the bling: be chic, not showy.

Fixing your Wardrobe

.

Have you ever found yourself standing in front of your closet just staring at your clothes thinking 'I have nothing to wear'? Most of the girls do.

We don't know how to let go off the things, and we just pile on and on a lot of stuff, which we know deep down we are not going to wear. But somehow just the feeling of having it is an impediment in letting go off.

How many times do you see hanging before you a few items you love next to many that:
- Look out-of-date?
- Don't coordinate with anything?
- Don't fit your lifestyle?
- Make you look fat?
- Don't fit you anymore?

Moreover, your style will evolve over time and you may find garments that just arent you anymore.

With the new year started, it's time we sort our wardrobe. We need to buy new items to update our wardrobes, indulge in some luxury and get something new for special occassions. But when we buy new items, we must also get rid off some old ones.

Afer all, how much stuff can we keep and manage? And we must also think that there are people out there, who maybe needing these stuff (you can give it to charity). We can put it to better use than just hanging it in our wardrobes.
.
Get rid of anything that you
- havent worn in the past year and you don't intend to in the future
- items that no longer fit
- items that are damaged beyond repair
- items that will never have another turn in the fashion cycle

Super model Cindy Crawford loves to buy shoes, she said that she has got about 50 pairs in her wardrobe. But she says she doesnt keep those for long.
.

She said: "I love Jimmy Choo in particular. Im good, though when I get a new pair of shoes I usually get rid of an old pair.
.
Piling on on things brings in negative energy and also reflects greed. Plus, it creates chaos in the wardrobe. So free up your house of needless clutter which will not only help you to look more polished, but will also free up more time every day when getting ready, save you from making potentially expensive mistakes in the future on impulse purchases' that you would never wear and can mentally refresh and refocus your mind.

So girls, with the start of the New Year, it's time that we get rid off old times that we will not need and we will not wear. Give unwanted items to charity, give them to friends or family or sell them on eBay.

Fashionably Disastrous

We know that the celebrities have to reinventtheir styles to get an edge over others all the time and create a trend, but sometimes the pressure gets so much that they just don't realise the difference between what is style and style disaster.

One such case was with Miley Cyrus, the Hanna Montana actress. The ripped jeans, cutout t-shirt, studded boots make for an interesting look, but when the outcome is what Miley wore, certainly it is a disaster.

The look obviously is edgy but not stylish at all. This look does not really give a very good inspiration, and I hope the teens would not try to imitate it.

2010 Party Trend

December is the month to party, to celebrate the festive season, the year gone by and the new year that will start soon.

For this party season, look from within this season's trends: colour tones from black tones to bright pinks to metallic greys, shine and bling, short and mini dresses, classic sheath, metallics, one-shouldered dresses and tops, super high platform heels (Victoria Beckham's style), animal prints, sequins and a key accessory piece.

No matter what you wear, make sure to use your girl power: frills, ruffles (Moschino), sheer fabrics (Givenchy), high neckline and beautifully draped sleeves. And emphasise the hourglass shape, i.e. focus on the waist while making your shoulders and hips look wider.

What to wear winter 2009-2010 party season?

Black

Balck is the party colour this season (has always been though) but this season it is the top colour in colour palette of every designer - they have used at least one outfit in black.

Little black dresses are the best bet, but not only staples they have a trendy twist. Pick one with one-shoulder or go strapless with embellishments or some bling.

We like Demi Moore's classic single-shoulder RM by Roland Mouret dress that she wore with peep-toe pumps at the L.A. launch of Roland Mouret's exclusive Rainbow Collection for Net-a-Porter.

.
Don't want to go all black?
This season, dresses in two or more colours are hot, the combined look of two colurs looks fresh and stylish. This colour blocking trend has been with us for two seasons and hasn't lost its popularity.

Colour block black with the shades of red, white, metallics or even pastels. Natalia Vodianova wore a satin peach and black colour blocked dress during the Louis Vuitton Pret a Porter show as part of the Paris Womenswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010. This style would make heads turn to you, feminine, sophisticatd and sexy, it certainly is the way to party.

Bright Pink

One of the hottest colours and must have of this Fall and Winter 2009/2010 is Bright Pink. The various shades of pink were everywhere in the winter 2009/2010 and is a great pick for your party wear.
.
Party in pink, the colour is feminine, sexy and fun and would create a bold and fashionable you. Choose from brights to deep pinks, close to fuchsia tone.

How to wear?
Pink can always be combined with other colors, like black, gray, and cream and also with neon palette.

A bright pink shift dress is a smart pick, you can wear it with a jacket in the day and for the night, just take off the jacket, and some accessories and you are ready to party.

We like the way Hilary Duff paired her Bright Pink sheath dress with a black jacket, look great on her. Paired with the nude shoes, she looks taller and sexier.
.

.
You can also accessorise with the bright pink colour to glam up your look this party season. Turn heads with a scarf, handbag, shoes or another accessory. Team your LBD with a pair of hot pink heels - grey is another glam colour for this party season and goes well with pink.

One Shouldered or Asymmetric Necklines

From single-shouldered dresses to tops and bikinis, asymmetric shoulder-lines have been one of the most raved about trends for the 2009 and are popular this party season too.

Showing off one-shoulder in a dress can be subtly sexy and interesting on the eye, and the possibilities for how to wear it are numerous. You can pick a sexy one-shouldered dress, or choose a smart one-shouldered top and pair it with slim fit jeans, high heeled shoes and chunky earrings.

For a dress, you can choose from a simple and even have a casual look or can go for a feminine and sophisticated style, or something more flirty and sexy, a style perfect for party wear.

High on the thigh

This season, the emphasis is all on your toned legs, not the cleavage. Super short dresses are THE THING to wear this party season. From Gwen Stefani, Naomi Campbell to Heidi Klum, all are sporting this trend. There are lots of girls who love short skirts. So cheers ladies and get excited, this is your time to wear those sexy skirts (see Jessica Stroup below) and hit the party circuit flaunting those gorgeous short pieces!

You can go short with high hemline, like Gwen Stefani in the black number, or can choose to show your neck like Sarah Jessica Parker in her L'Wren Scott jacquard minidress.

.

Jessica Stroup at Golden Globes Awards (left) and with AnnaLynne McCord at GQ Bash

And the best way to wear them? With thigh high or over-the-knee boots.

2. Makeup trend for this party season

A good make-up can really turn heads, so make sure to pay special attention to you makeup this party season. From the make-up trends, matt skin is really popular this winter. Shiny is out, go for pale skin with natural tints, rosy cheeks (pink, pink-blue, peach to natural-tan hues). Make sure you match your blush with either your eyes or your lips.

Your lips should look tender and innocent. Winter 2009-2010 lip color palette range from slightly pink, violet, fuchsia to extremely pale, almost skin-fitting-hue.

Steer away from lip glosses or shiny lips. If you choose to go red on lips, keep the rest of the look simple and team it with colourless eyes. Go red in Gwen Stefani way.

Eyes are the most important part of this season make up trend. Therell be two extremes for the eyes: smoky-smoky and almost naked ones. Bright colors fit paleness. And this season, keep aside your fake lashes, emphasis is more on the eye shadows then the long lashes. Compensate the lashes with shaded dark pencil at the out corner of the eye line. Thick black and brown eyebrows are in this winter 2009-2010, as they brightly contour the eye shadow.
